This paper relies largely on archival sources intertwined with the history of contemporary Nigeria ceramics. Contemporary ceramics as used in this paper refers to modern ceramic/pottery art. Cottage industry as referred is small in size ceramic or pottery industry where the creations of ceramic products are made. Since 1953, when ceramic art was introduced into the tertiary curriculum, male and female students enroll, train and graduate on yearly basis. This means that females have also learnt to work and go with various agents of change in the society. However, this paper is hinged on theory of change that necessitate change in the trained female ceramic artists and to urge them to participate in the establishment of contemporary ceramic cottage industries in order to create jobs and enhance economic growth.
