Female Aluminum Sand Caster: Journal of Educational Research and Development.

Women are increasingly being recognize as equal partner in development in Nigeria, but not in all areas such as sand casting business. This paper aim at contributing to the entrepreneurship literature by studying female sand casters in Ile- Ife, despite all the odd of religious, cultural and psychological myths, bias and beliefs that women cannot performance in certain strenuous crafts and businesses such as sand casting. The study is hinged on feminist theory that postulate gender equality for growth: Women entrepreneurs create value for their societies and in many ways create source of income for themselves and their families. This study aims at highlighting women in the enterprise of aluminum casting business in Ile-Ife and their creative potentials: their source of raw materials; their method of production and skill transfer; and probable challenges that may be confronting the female casters. Thirty female sand casters were studied and findings revealed that there are more female to sand casting business than male in Ile- Ife and its environ.
