This paper examines the significance of the traditional Nigerian hair-do 'didi' vis-a-vis contemporariness in the cultural context, particularly amongst the Yoruba speaking people. Furthermore, the paper analyses specifically the styles and the statement each style made socially and culturally. Attempt is made to provide periods of existence. A few anthropologists and historians have attempted to examine and document these styles but the styles are ever changing, evolving and not static. Hence cannot be exhausted. However, there is the need to constantly document and update these traditional hair styles from time to time for posterity sake. This paper focuses on the contemporary hair-do Nigerian women adorn with.
