Research in studio practice is of interest and a subject of concern to stake-holders (university authorities, lecturers, students and the public) in this 21st century. It is against this backdrop that this paper is written. The paper takes a look at the meaning of research according to various authors. A relationship is made between research in the arts and the studio (practical). A step-by-step discussion of research is also made in relation to both. Attention is drawn to similarities and differences in procedures adopted in studio research and research in the arts. On the whole, a template is made in the paper to serve as a guide to prospective studio researcher through review of literature and personal experience in project supervision. The paper recommends that more students should be encouraged to carry out research in studio-related problems; authorities in studio and academic research should see themselves as two side of the same coin working together to move the standard of education forward in Nigeria and a more elaborate format or template should be made and endorsed by stake-holders; this will serve as a model for prospective studio researchers in the area of arts. | Sunday James | 2(2) | egghead, Journal of Arts | 2017-07-01 | ||
