Documentation is an integral aspect of art history and an important thing to the art historians among whom, Jimga Ganiyu is one. Across ages, man in his day-to-day life has learnt to document his experiences. In doing this, several methods and media are employed. This ranges from the rock paintings and engravings of the primitive man, the Hieroglyphs of ancient Egyptians to the modern day writing and technology. In this twenty-first century, and an era of high technological development, several media are used to document major happenings of the society. Such media include writing, photography (still and motion), video recordings, relics, and monuments in museums and major parks, to mention but a few. These documentations are of great importance as they help look into the past in order to examine and assess the present as well as predict and prepare for the future.
