Teacher preparation is an integral part of Nigerian educational system. Proper implementation of any school curriculum is much dependent on the quality of teachers in such system and their efficiency. This paper explores attempts made by government in the past and present to improve the process of preparing teachers for teaching job, especially in the field of Art as an aspect of Vocational Education. An attempt is made in the paper to highlight various obstacles and challenges militating against this process as well as suggesting the way forward.
