INCLUSIVE EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS: THE VISUAL ART LENS

The fundamental principle of inclusive education is that; all children should learn together wherever possible, regardless of any difficulty or difference. This paper examines the role of Visual Arts in inclusive education. The paper makes a reflection of the meaning of inclusive education within the context of National Policy on Education in Nigeria (NPE). It highlights some of the teaching and learning strategies a s well as suggests possible aspects af arts that the teacher can employ to guarantee equal and quality education for all children in an inclusive environment. The paper goes further to discuss the interrelationship between quality inclusive practices and the arts. Models are designed to serve as frameworks upon which inclusive education curriculum can be structured to achieve the desired goals of inclusive education.
