To many, acquiring a doctoral degree in Fine and Applied Arts in a Nigerian university is seen as an arduous and insurmountable task. While some are having fairly smooth sail, others crash along the line. The thought of it creates a ‘deep breathe’ in many upcoming student artists; who aspire to reach this enviable height. It is against this backdrop, this paper explores the ‘adventure’ to this academic feat; drawing an analogy from inspirations in order to allay the fear of readers about this ‘Dream Land’. The paper prepares the minds of the readers towards expectations on the ladder to this academic peak. The aim is to highlight the demands of acquiring a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Fine and Applied Arts, as well as other disciplines. The paper relies on personal experience, interviews, interaction and philosophical inspirations to bring the readers to a desired point of view.
