1 | BEHAVIOUR PATTERNS AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF POLYJAMB AND PRELIMINARY/REMEDIAL ENTRANTS OF KWARA STATE COLLEGES OF EDUCATION |
This study investigated the behaviour patterns performance of preliminary/Remedial and Ploy JAMB entrants into Kwara State College of Education 25.3 Students comprising 129 Preliminary/Remedial entrants and 124 Poly JAMB entrants used as sample. The behaviour pattern inventory (BPI) developed by Alao (1989) was adopted and classified behaviour into Type A and Type B behaviour pattern using Z-score of responses to the inventory, chi-square and T-square statistical methods at alpha 0.05 to analyze the data. The study revealed that; there was no statistical difference in the behaviour patterns of Preliminary/Remedial and polyJAMB entrants, no significant difference between the behaviour patterns and academic performance, while those with Type A behaviour performance better than those with Type B behaviour characteristics. Thus, it is suggested that Preliminary/Remedial and polyJAMB modes of admission should be strengthened in Teacher training institutions. Also, school administrators should encourage Type A behaviour characteristics among students to enhance teaching - learning processes. | Afolabi S.O | 2(1) | International Journal of Educational Management | 1997-10-05 |
