The study investigated the effect of same-age peer tutoring on students’ academic performance in business studies in basic education in South-Western Nigeria.. The study adopted a quasi-experimental research design of the non-randomized pre-test post-test of the non-equivalent control group by employing the non-randomized pre-test post-test control group. one research question was raised and three hypotheses were generated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The population of the study consisted of 372,467 basic education students offering business studies in the southwest during the 2019/2020 academic session. The sample consisted of 230 basic two business studies students who were selected using a multistage sampling technique. The instrument for data collection was an adopted standardized cognitive achievement test in Business Studies (BSAT). Test re-test method of reliability was employed after which Pearson Product Moment Correlation was used to obtain a correlation coefficient of 0.72. Mean and Standard Deviation were used to answer the research question while Analysis of covariance was used to test the two null hypotheses generated on significant effect at 0.05 level of significance. Findings revealed that students taught using same-age peer tutoring performed significantly better than those taught using traditional teaching strategies. There was no significant gender effect among the mean academic performance of students taught business studies with same-age peer tutoring.. It was concluded that the Same Age peer tutoring allows students to be active in the learning process.
