GENDER AND LEADERSHIP IN VISUAL ARTS Abstract This paper highlighted the male and female gender in leadership and some of the factors affecting women attaining leadership positions globally. The statistics of practicing Nigeria women in leadership compared to their male counterparts including artists in visual and performing arts forms a gap. It is not possible to discuss every area of gender and leadership, therefore the writer narrows the scope to Nigerian female visual artists in leadership positions citing few examples; in acting, announcing, architecture, fine arts, directing, animation, dancing and choreography, design, entertainment and performance, music and singing, photography, production and writing.
