ACCESSIBILITY AND AVAILABILITY OF INSTRUCTION[AL MATERIALS IN TEACHING PERSONS WITH INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES

Instructional materials are very important in teaching and learning process. Persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities demands a lot of efforts of the teachers. In order to achieve success in teaching persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities the teacher needs to make use of instructional materials. This study aim at investigating the accessibility and availability of instructional materials in teaching persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities by their teachers.The study is a descriptive survey. Two hundred teachers of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities responded to a twenty seven item questionnaire. T-test was used to analyse the data collected. The findings revealed that when instructional materials are used,the students are able to learn faster. The study further revealed that the teachers have access to instructional materials and instructional materials are available for their use in teaching process.
