Perception Of Teachers Of Students With Disabilities Towards Inclusive Education By Olubukola Christianah Dada

Inclusive Education is the act of educating all children in the same class despite disabilities or not.May countries in the world have started the implementation of this policy based on the Salamanca declaration of 1994.This paper examined the perception of teachers of persons with disabilities towards inclusive education. Three research questions were generated for the study. The descriptive research design was used in the sturdy. Purposive sampling technique was used. A fifteen item questionnaire was used to elicit responses from the respondents who are teachers of students with disabilities. One hundred teachers of students with disabilities responded to the questionnaires. Simple percentage, mean and standard deviation were used to analyze the data collected. The findings revealed that methods of teaching in the inclusive should include among others individualization of instruction and task analysis. There is also the need for effective use of instructional materials in teaching in the inclusive classroom. Distractions may occur in the inclusive classroom but this should be effectively managed by the teacher. Recommendations were made to ensure implementation of inclusive education.
