EFFECT OF PEER TUTORING ON LEARNING OUTCOMES IN MATHEMATICS AMONG STUDENTS WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES IN MORO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA KWARA STATE,NIGERIA

The study examined the effects of peer tutoring strategy on learning outcomes in mathematics among students with learning disabilities in Moro local government area, kwara state. The study adopted pre-test,post-test quasi experimental research design,using 2x2 factorial matrix.Two instruments were used in the study. Four hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance and a total of 40 participants were used for the study. The data gathered were analysed using T-test.The result revealed significant effect in mathematics achievement of participants exposed to peer tutoring and the control group[peer tutoring mean score:11.00 and control group mean score: 5.05]. Also, there was significant effect of treatment on mathematics achievement and attitude toward mathematics.More so, it was revealed that gender has no significant effect on mathematics achievement with learning disabilities and their attitude towards mathematics. Based on the findings,the study recommended that the use of peer tutoring strategy on learning outcomes should be used by the teachers teaching mathematics irrespective of students’ disability and gender. Also, the curriculum planners should make peer tutoring as parts of the strategies for teaching mathematics to students with disabilities.
