1 | MOTIVATION AND PERFORMANCE OF EMPLOYEES IN THE NIGERIAN FINANCIAL INDUSTRY |
The study investigated the effect of motivation on the performance of employees in the Nigeria Financial Industry. The specific objective was to investigate the impact of motivation on the speed of service the industry. A cross-sectional survey design approach was adopted for the shy in which a structured closed ended questionnaire was administered on respondents drawn from p and middle management staff of selected banks in southwestern Nigeria. The descriptive statistics of frequency counts, mean and standard dentation, and the inferential statistics of correlation, analysis of variance and multivariate linear regression analysis were used to analyze the data. The findings showed that motivation was significantly correlated with employees' performance (0.201 p< 0.05) Furthermore performance was regressed on motivational variables: training, promotion, welfare package, teamwork, creativity and employees compensation and were jointly found to have significant et on performance in the Financial Industry (p<0 05) It was therefore concluded that high level of employees motivation will result in improved performance and consequently, the continued maintenance of competitive advantage over others in the same industry.
