An Idiomatic Translation and Analysis of Al-Jamzuri’sTuhfatu’l-Atfal on Tajwid
Tajwid is one of the sciences of Islamics which guides recitation of the Qur’an in its original format. Many works have been written on the subject with different specific objectives set out by different authors. Al-Jamzūri, however, presents the subject in poetical verses with objective of introducing it to beginners. The book is widely used in different parts of the world especially in Nigeria. In fact, many teachers do not certify their students until they have memorized and understood this text. This paper therefore aims at analyzing the sixty-one verses of Al-Jamzūri’s poetry. It, after introduction, gives biography of Al-Jamzūri and text of the poetry before the analysis and conclusion.
