Denominations of Hadīth in Erotic Poetry of ’Al-’Ishbīli
Ḥadīth is one of the subjects of Islamic studies which, according to Ibnu-l-Mubarak, forms part of the religion itself 1. Ghazal, on the other hand, is genre of lyric poem dealing with themes of love. ’Al-’Ishbīly, the renowned scholar of Shāficī school and the great muḥaddith (scholar of Ḥadīth) of the 6th century of Ḥijrah, mentioned some denominations of Ḥadīth in his twenty stanza of ghazal poetry. This paper, analyzes those denominations of ḥadīth mentioned in the Poetry of ’Al-’Ishbīly. The paper, after the introduction, gives biography of ’Al-’Ishbīly and analysis of his poetry before the conclusion.
