The paper evaluates the public finance in the military and civilian regime; it also examined the effects recurrent expenditure, Capital expenditure and revenue on Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The methodology used for this paper was mixed method. ARDL bounds test approach was used to estimate the result of this study. The finding of the study revealed that recurrent expenditure was on the increase under civilian government than the military government. The study recommends that more funds should be spent on capital expenditures and there is need for government to reduce wastage on recurrent spending and the government spending should pass through proper accountability and transparent mechanism. | https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9174-9233 Google Scholar link |
