Background and Objective: Application of organic fertilizers on soil can contribute to improvement in soil fertility and yield of crop. . The trial was aimed at assessing the soil properties and vegetative growth of fluted pumpkin as affected by application of compost amended with mineral fertilizer. Material and Methods: The experiment was a randomized complete block design. The experiment involved six treatments: Organic fertilizer plus (OFP) at 3 t/ha, 4 t/ha, 5 t/ha, 6 t/ha, NPK at 60 kg N/ha and control. Results: Organic fertilizer plus at 4 t/ha significantly increased the vine length, number of branches, number of leaves, fresh shoot marketable yield and shoot dry weight of pumpkin. Higher concentration and uptake of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium was observed in the shoot of the plants which received OFP at 4 t/ha. OFP at 4 t/ha had a significant and additive effect on soil nutrients after harvesting of pumpkin when compared with NPK.
