REVENUE GENERATION ASSESSMENT IN ILORIN EAST LOCAL GOVERNMENT
Local government administration in Nigeria has attracted serious attention of nationally since the great local government reform of 1976. Local government is the closest tier of government to the people of Nigeria, yet the resident population in it is denied the benefits of its existence. The study examined the problems associated with revenue generation in Ilorin-east local government; it also investigated the major sources of Ilorin East Local Government Revenue Base; and methodology adopted was secondary data. The failure of the local Ilorin east government in the area of service delivery over the years has attributed to the nature of the revenue generation and the attitudinal culture of the staff in the in the local government. However, the study recommends that the Ilorin East Local Government should train and retrain the revenue officers and also develop a mechanism for promoting revenue generation at grassroot.
