Every aspect of human life regulated by the teachings of Quran and sunnah of prophet Muhammed [SAWS]. This paper focuses on the teachings of Islam on reproductive control as advocated in the contemporary world. The objective is to analyse the relevant injunctions from the two major sources and present them in a systematic way in order to asses the legality of such biotechnical measures based on the shariah. The position of the writer is that Muslims may practice birth control especially in the form of azl but in choosing any of the reversible methods caution should be taken so that the method will not be hazardous to their health.
