Good Governance, Accountability, Inclusiveness and Sustainable Economic Management in Nigeria

ABSTRACT Sustainable Economic Management (SEM) has been known to ensure system functionality without resource depletion as well as enabling economic viability and nourishing the needs of a future generation. However, the constructs have not been explored and they still remain challenging constructs in Nigeria. The study examined the perceived contributions of good governance accountability and inclusiveness to sustainable economic management in Nigeria. Judgmental Sampling Technique was used to select a total of 100 respondents among five (5) categories professionals Journalism, Law, Politics, Accounting and Civil service in florin metropolis whose opinion were sampled to determine the significant of good governance, accountability and inclusiveness as panacea for enabling SEM. Data collection instrument for the study was structured questionnaire copies of which were distributed among sampled respondents whose opinion on the relationship between the study variable were analyzed with the aid of simple descriptive. Data analysis was performed with the aid of mean and chi-square. The result revealed that good governance accountability and inclusiveness are the predictors of sustainable economic management Furthermore, the result revealed that high level of corruption, persistent poverty, and poorly managed of natural resources are major challenges facing sustainable economic management in Nigeria This scenario has tagged Nigeria to be the poverty capital of the world. Subsequently, the study recommend that government should embrace good governance, accountability and inclusive in administration. This will go a long way to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of 2030. Keywords accountability, good governance, inclusiveness, sustainable economic management.
