The arrival of the era of artificial intelligence in accounting profession is inevitable, as most of the accounting routine practices are being taken over by machines. This new support can help companies with the most complex tasks without asking for a monthly salary/ stipend, because this new workforce is not human but rather artificial. In view of this, this conceptual paper examines how Artificial Intelligence, Al, improves accounting systems/practices by looking at the general overview of Al, how Al has transformed accounting profession and the importance of Al. It was observed that Al has improved practices of accounting the profession. Most practicing accountants however lack the technical know-how to operate this machine. Also, small businesses find it difficult to switch to human intelligence because of the huge costs involved unlike big companies that have the resources. It was recommended that accountants should move their roles into consulting and advising to ensure that they are taking full advantage of automation while helping their businesses grow. However, professional bodies such as Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (CAN) should organize Al trainings for their members so as to keep them updated in accounting packages. | USMAN, M.
